Find Twitter Tweeps To Follow With Google's Help

Google seems to be paying some attention to Twitter these days, perhaps the Jaiku acquisition hasn't quite paid the dividends they were hoping for. Google has announced a couple of tools aimed at Twitter this week. First, they announced a replay feature that helps you search the public archive of updates from Twitter, and now from Google Labs, Google Follow Finder to help you identify tweeps to grow your Twitter network. The tool uses public following and follower lists to generate it's list of tweeps that you may wish to follow. It's not really ground breaking but it is interesting that these announcements come as Twitter announces it's plan for generating revenues through promoted tweets via it's search feature.

The Coolest Experiments Offered Up By Google Labs

Okay, so I'm putting on the Google fanboy t shirt again and directing you to Network World where Kaila Colbin points out a bunch of cool things that are currently available via Google Labs. Kaila has composed a top ten list of favorite experiments with which I mostly agree. However, as she points out we cannot forget the experiments that have graduated to the mainstream such as Google Alerts, Google Desktop, Google Docs, Google Maps, and I would add Google Earth. Of the 10 I have to say that Skymap for Android and Google Goggles are my favs.

Google Throws News Sites A Life Line

The Official Google Blog has announced the latest creation from Google Labs called Fast Flip. "Like a print magazine, Fast Flip lets you browse sequentially through bundles of recent news, headlines and popular topics, as well as feeds from individual top publishers. As the name suggests, flipping through content is very fast, so you can quickly look through a lot of pages until you find something interesting." My limited trial of the service leads me to believe that it is delivering on this promise, the page loads quickly allowing you to peruse the articles and then drill down on the ones you want to read. There is also a mobile version for Android-powered devices and iPhones.

At the moment Google has partnered with "three dozen top publishers, including the New York Times, the Atlantic, the Washington Post, Salon, Fast Company, ProPublica and Newsweek." The number would seem like a lot but you can flip through these articles in a hurry so it will be nice to see who else comes on board down the road. All in all I think I'll be giving Fast Flip a go, it will definitely be on my list of sources to check each morning.
